Instead of repeating the noun again and again, French uses subject pronouns.

Example:

Full NounPronoun
Marie parle.Elle parle.

This means:

  • Marie = noun
  • elle = pronoun replacing Marie

Subject pronouns are essential because every French verb changes according to the pronoun used.

This is why subject pronouns are directly connected to verb conjugation.

Without mastering subject pronouns, correct sentence building is impossible.
